Orientation session · 1 hour

Your first year
in the United States.

Taxes, banking, credit and structure — from someone who did it and also does it. What I wish someone had explained to me when I arrived, instead of learning it the hard way.

USD 70 per hour · by video call

I read it myself and confirm whether this session fits. If I think it is not worth it for you, I say so before charging you.

And I emigrated too

Why this session exists

When I arrived, the same thing happened to me that happens to everyone: the information was split in two and neither half worked on its own.

On one side, accountants who know the rules but never emigrated. They tell you which form applies, but not that the bank will ask for something you do not have yet, or in what order things should happen.

On the other, people who emigrated and share their experience. They know the real sequence, and they almost always have to clarify that none of it is tax advice — because it cannot be.

I did both. I moved, and I am also registered with the IRS to prepare and file returns. This session is that intersection: the sequence from someone who went through it, with the accountability of someone who signs.

What we cover in the hour

Depending on your case. It is not a generic talk: you tell me your situation first and I arrive with your topics prepared.

Which return you owe, and from whenThe first year is rarely clean: it splits across two countries and the date you arrived changes what applies. It is the question that costs the most to get wrong.
What to do with what you left behindAccounts, property, a job that keeps invoicing, pension contributions. What was ordinary back home can become a reporting obligation here.
The bank and credit from zeroWhy they say no, what to have ready before you walk in, and how credit history gets built when you do not exist to the system yet. No form teaches this.
In your name or through a company? If you are self-employed, if your clients are abroad, if you are going to buy something. Sometimes an LLC makes sense and sometimes it is pure added cost — and I tell you which one yours is.

What this session does NOT cover

Stated before you pay, not in the fine print.

Nothing about visas, green cards or immigration status. I am not an immigration attorney: that field has its own license and I do not hold it. If that is your question, I refer you to an immigration attorney I work with, and I do not charge you for the session.

And one clarification worth making, because it gets confused constantly: owning a company in the United States gives you no immigration status. They are two separate matters, and anyone suggesting otherwise is selling you smoke.

Nor is it legal advice of any kind. It is tax and financial orientation, which is what I am authorized to give.

How it works

1

You tell me your situation

Through the form below. Where you come from, how long ago you arrived or when you plan to move, and what worries you. It costs nothing and commits you to nothing.

2

I confirm whether it fits

I read it myself. If the short $29 consultation solves it, I say so. If it is a matter for an immigration attorney, I refer you. If this session is right, the payment and scheduling link goes out.

3

One hour, with your topics prepared

By video call, in English or Spanish. You leave with the order of what you need to do and in what sequence, in writing.

Frequently asked questions

Does this cover visas or residency?

No, and you should know that before paying. I am not an immigration attorney: that field has its own license and I do not hold it. If your question is about visas, green cards or status, I refer you to an immigration attorney I work with, at no charge. This session is about what happens to your money, your taxes and your paperwork once you are here.

What does it cover, then?

The financial and tax side of the first year: which return you owe and from when, what happens to the income and accounts you left behind, how to open a bank account here, how credit history gets built from zero, and whether what you do should run through a company or in your own name. It is what I had to figure out the hard way when I arrived.

Why you and not any accountant?

Because I did both. I am an IRS-registered tax preparer with a PTIN and a Florida Notary Public, so I answer for what I sign. And I also moved: I went through the bank that said no, the first year with income in two countries, and credit at zero. An accountant who never emigrated knows the rule but not the sequence; someone who emigrated knows the sequence but not the rule.

What does it cost and how is it paid?

USD 70 per hour. First you tell me your case through the form, I read it, and I confirm whether this session is right for you or whether your situation is solved another way. Only then does the payment and scheduling link go out. If I think it is not worth it for you, I will say so.

Do I need to be living there already?

No. In fact the session pays off most before the move or in the first months, when decisions are still open: what to do with accounts back home, which point in the year is better to move given the tax calendar, which documents to get apostilled before you leave.

What language is it in?

English or Spanish, whichever you prefer. It is by video call, so it does not matter where you are.
